"Convert" binaries to different architecture?

This isn't really related to bubba, it's more of a linux newbie question i guess.
I have got drivers to a printer/scanner in the form of binaries built for the x86 architecture. Since there are tools out there as Crosstools and such I was thinking maybe there are ways to reverse engineer those binaries and cross compile them to another architecture?
Maybe it's a long shot, but still - anyone know if its doable?
