Bubba with an uninteruptable Power Supply (UPS)

Hi,
Having installed all of the components of my life onto my bubba I now feel the need to install a UPS. Looking around on the internet this should be fairly easy and indeed plugging the same UPS into my Mandriva 2008 workstation I get a sensible message appear in my messages file ie.
Jun 13 21:40:29 localhost kernel: usb 5-1.5: new low speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 7
Jun 13 21:40:29 localhost kernel: usb 5-1.5: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
Jun 13 21:40:31 localhost kernel: hiddev0: USB HID v1.10 Device [American Power Conversion Back-UPS CS 650 FW:817.v4.I USB FW:v4] on usb-0000:00:10.4-1.5
Jun 13 21:45:01 localhost crond[7137]: (root) CMD ( /usr/share/sshd-monitor/sshd-restarter)
Jun 13 21:47:56 localhost kernel: usb 5-1.5: USB disconnect, address 7
Jun 13 21:50:01 localhost crond[7233]: (root) CMD ( /usr/share/sshd-monitor/sshd-restarter)
As can be seen, the UPS detected is a APC 650 CS.
Plugging the same thing device into the bubba gives me:
Jun 13 21:47:46 mail kernel: usb 1-1.4.1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
Jun 13 21:47:46 mail kernel: pl2303 1-1.4.1:1.0: pl2303 converter detected
Jun 13 21:47:46 mail kernel: usb 1-1.4.1: pl2303 converter now attached to ttyUSB0
Jun 13 21:47:46 mail kernel: usb 1-1.4.4: new low speed USB device using at91_ohci and address 25
Jun 13 21:47:46 mail kernel: usb 1-1.4.4: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
Jun 13 21:47:48 mail kernel: HID device not claimed by input or hiddev
I presume I have some missing drivers or the like? I've tried installing both NUT and apcupsd_3.10.17-2 but neither are likely to work until this is resolved.
I'd appeciate any thought or ideas? Anyone else installed a UPS for their bubba?
Thanks
