Well if the only thing he wants to do is to connect to an services on the internet from an windows machine behind B3 he should not need to do any changes in the firewall at all.
If he has problem it is most likely with the windows firewall on the windows machine or that his internet provider do block port 445. If it is his internet provider it is nothing he can do expect change provider.
Does it work if you connect directly to internet with out the B3?

I just checked with Strato and they actually do offer a bunch of other methods to use their hidrive service.
They have a test site for you to verify whether or not unencrypted SMB/CIFS will work for you:
http://diag.hidrive.strato.com:445/
Since the B3 will allow this by default, if this fails it is your provider's fault. My advise is that you don't look further in this case, because your provider will refuse to open it up for you and other providers will not be open about them (not) allowing it and you may in fact need to sign a contract first before being able to find out that the new provider also blocks several ports and maybe even complete internet addresses.
Now check out his page:
http://www.strato-faq.de/2371 (I chose the German language version here because I think you hinted this to be your native language - just change to .co.uk to see it in English, or .nl for Dutch). Somewhere mid-page you'll find a screen called "Admin- und Protokollrechte" (Admin and protocol rights) where it shows you the Windows drive option, but it actually also says "over VPN". What they mean here is that you should setup a Windows VPN (PPTP; port 1194) first and then access the SMB port through that tunnel - they provide a link to their own VPN client on this page as well, so it should be a breeze to get this up and running.
