I have tested it little bit more.

It works fine on both my windows laptop and stationary Ubuntu 8.10, so it is only Bubba that it does not work on :( (for some reason it is only the NTFS disk that gets auto Mounted by Ubuntu, and with my newly founded Linux skills I could find the other one: )

I have also tried to plug the box in after some time to wait for disk to spin up. but with no change in effect.

Could it be some USB driver that needs to be updated on my Bubba?

I have also found that my naming of the slots was incorrect and I will change it in my above post.

You can fake power by putting your nasbox into a USB hub that has its own power supply and thus can provide the rail voltage.

I would consider it very unlikely that this is a driver issue

Thanks for the advise, but it had no effect.

I have borrowed a D-Link DUB-H7 USB 2.0 USB hub and I have attached it to Bubba and the ICY box.

So I'm still thinking that is driver issue.
