Apologies for the length of this post but wanted to pre-empt as many questions as possible.

I received my Bubba recently, I've installed a 1TB drive. Formatted it etc.

Followed the instruction manual as here:

I'm trying to set up Scenario 6. so that I can use the server function for my squeezebox.

Instructions say:
Connect the black network cable
between the BUBBA|TWO LAN-port
and your PC.
Connect the 12V power adapter first
to a mains supply, and then to
BUBBA|TWO. The blue front light
will blink for a few seconds while
starting, and then stay constantly lit.
Start a web browser and type
‘http://bubba/’
Log on using ‘admin’ as user name and ‘admin’ as password.

If I do this in IE then I get 'the page your looking for wasn't found' etc
In Firefox, it redirects me to www.bubba.com.

If I turn wireless off I get the same as IE.

Running ipconfig gives the following result:

connection-specific DNS suffix: blank
autoconfiguration ip address: 169.254.209.166
subnet mask:255.255.0.0
default gateway: blank

I seem to be having a similar problem to this thread:

However, I am unable to solve the problem from here.

Anybody able to help?

Looks like your Bubba doesn't get an IP address from your router as it should.
I had to use WAN port on Bubba first and configure it to server mode.
Easiest way is plug it in WAN port instead then browse to http://bubba log in as admin and update bubba to version 1.1.2 then set Bubba to server mode. Move cable from WAN port to LAN port and you're done except for the other settings ofc.

Thanks for this Ravagon.

I tried connecting the WAN port to my computer with the black cable provided by excito.

However, no luck.

I've tried this with 3 computers here. All XP one Professional and two Home.

Just as when I connected via the LAN port, the computer recognises that there is something there, but comes up with the same 'Limited or No Connectivity'.

Running ipconfig gives the following result:

connection-specific DNS suffix: blank
autoconfiguration ip address: 169.254.12.160
subnet mask:255.255.0.0
default gateway: blank

Any more ideas and sorry if I'm being really thick here.

I see the problem now.
You have to set a static ip address on your pc.
Set it to 192.168.10.2 then you should be able to browse to http://bubba.

Okay,

If I set the IP address as above, I get connectivity (an improvement).

However, I still don't seem to be able to access the Bubba with http://Bubba/.

Am I just being thick!

There was me thinking this would be the easiest part of the media system!

Okie!
Try http://192.168.10.1 see if you get Bubba.

if u can connect to whit the ip it is using the u can wlvays edit host file on windows workstation to forword it to the ip

sgl9vp: Hi, and sorry about this. It really should be very simple, so my guess is that you have received a faulty unit. However, just to make sure:

- Have you been able to get a response from your Bubba Two in any way at all?
- Does your bubba boot properly (i.e. does the front LED stop blinking, and stay constantly lit?
- does the link lamp next to the lan cable light up?
- can you power-down your Bubba using the back-end button?

Sorry for the extended delay in getting back here. Unfortunately work demands are stretching me at the moment.

I've tried all that has been suggested so far and no more success.

Johannes:

- Does your bubba boot properly (i.e. does the front LED stop blinking, and stay constantly lit? Yes. It wasn't difficult installing the OS onto the Hard Drive I bought seperately.

- does the link lamp next to the lan cable light up? Yes.

- can you power-down your Bubba using the back-end button? Again, Yes.

Then the only remaining option is to return the unit, I suspect it being a faulty board, possilby damaged in transport.
