Re: Product launch: TV on demand just got better!
Sadly Big Media don't like open products with or without DRM.
So many of us root our devices as soon as we get a new one, but then we also have to accept that a few media sources are no longer accessible to us. It sucks, but, so far, they make the rules.

Re: An early review of TV Sweden media player
@NoSubstitute,
Thanks for the feedback. I think that you running the Tele2 firmware on the box is causing some of your issues. If you would like to upgrade to TV Sweden firmware, contact us at support@tvsweden.se and we'll help you out.
Done! :-)

Re: An early review of TV Sweden media player
I too tested the TV Sweden app, but on my Tele2 Player.
It connects fine and I can use the services as I expect ... apart from DLNA.
Trying to connect to my minidlna server I get nothing but crashes. Not only that, but it keeps remembering that I was trying to access it, so I can't choose to play ...

Re: Exicto TV Player (Tele2)
Yes, it has DLNA support.
Great! Will test and give feedback. In this thread, or will you create a new one?
And no, we do not at all compete with Minix (and it is not at all the same hw by the way). ...
Oh, perhaps I didn't read the specs closely enough. My bad.

Re: Exicto TV Player (Tele2)
Smooth!
I assume the app coming on Monday will bring full and stable DLNA support.
Like I've said you got the potential to make a very good multimedia device, but if you intend to compete with the MiniX Neo, which is the same hardware, but sold as a fully open Android device with not only media ...

Re: Will there be any further development of the v1?
The Tele2 Pilots got an update a few months ago with support for DLNA. So the technology is there already.
Sadly not to support a DLNA source of my choice. Unless it's just buggy, because when I try to browse my minidlna server here the app FCs. Since it also remembers where I was last time I ...

Well, yes. When you put it like that, I guess I'd have to agree.johannes wrote:...
They do give it away for free, so it's quite reasonable in my view.

Tried to get an answer from then last week, but nobody there seems to have any clue what will happen with the project.

Will there be any further development of the v1?
It feels like the development died when the Tele2 Play pilot ended.
I had high hopes for software updates that would enable access to more network media sources. Of course I'd prefer SMB/SAMBA/CIFS and or NFS, but at least opening it up to any DLNA source would have been a great step forward and ...

Re: What can I actually do with a V1?
Yes, it's a shame that the v1 is so locked down.
The hardware has, or perhaps I should say "had, the chance of being a serious competitor to, what seems to be the original device or at least more developed product, called Minix.
I just don't really want to buy new hardware, when I have it right ...
