What is impossible with the Finder is uploading to a FTP. On the other hand, Samba uploading works :)

Hello,
The FTP client included in the Mac OS X Finder is read only so it is not possible to upload files to a FTP server using it. You'll have to keep using a real FTP client or switch to Samba as Tor suggested.
If it's a MacBook, then, it's Mac OS X 10.4.x.
