Hello Gordon,
I used gentoo for a third exito b3 and as a rescue system for the other debian installation. Since "reboot" won't work I thought I give a system-update a try to solve the problem.
Since I'm not firm with gentoo, I used emaint --auto sync to update the USB-Installation (systemd).

Problem with shutting down the system
Hello Gordon,

Hello Gordon,
As I own more than one b3, I tried to use your Gentoo Linux on my second one. Since I want to install the system I looked at the script install_on_sda.sh.
I installed a fresh/new SSD into the b3! So there no previous installation on that disk, and booted from USB

Thank you both Gordon/MouettE,
It seems, I'm getting old. Cound'nt imagine that there is a system out there with the ancient 2TB limit. But well, my first B3 is from 2012. I Just installed it with 1800GB.

Re: Debian bookworm (12) image 1.0 released for B3
Hello again.
Since I own 4 Excitos B3 I bought a 4TB SSD for testing.
Installation went smooth, but rebooting failed. Here is the intall.ini and protocol:
[general]
image = bookworm/bookworm-image-1.0-20230611-1733.tar.xz
wipe = true
size = full
swap = 1024
reboot = true

Hello MouettE,
I just did it ... I destroyed my original Excito-Installation after more than ten years. Since I new, that bullseye could be installed on my backup-B3 I tried this with my main B3, but used the wrong image (buster) two days ago fully configured for my usage (mainly easyfind ...

Hello MouettE,
Hope you're doing well.
It seems, that the easyfind.pl on my old b3 tries to update trippstadt.myownb3.com to the IP-address to 88.180.91.xyz, but the address points still to 209.99.40.222.
nslookup trippstadt.myownb3.com

Re: Debian bullseye (11) image 1.0 released for B3
I just upgraded my second B3 to bullseye. Bought them in 2012 (?). Still using it.
The most complex thing was the replacement of the dead 3.5 disk with a Samsung SSD. I know the usage of screw drivers but haven't used them in recent years :-)
Well, installation went smooth.

Re: myownb3.com problems
sorry to bother you (MouettE) again.
As I run the old excito-software (behind a firewall), you actually made the easyfind.pl working again.
It seems, that something went wrong again. When I run the script, the DNS name will actually be updated to the new IP-address, but only one or 2 minutes later ...

worked.
You mentioned "the old excito image" Are there new ones? Or can I update to a more recent one?
I heard something years ago, that other distros could be used, but never looked actually at them.

Re: myownb3.com problems
Thank you for maintaining easyfind. I'm still running a b3 with the old debian. :-) the external ID should be trippstadt.myownb3.com with IP-Address 84.180.157.132; but the dns entry remains on the old 84.180.91.90.
Eaysfind.pl reports the error message in my last post.
maybe something has changed ...

Re: Release notes for Excito Bubba 2&3 software version 2.6
The key thing here is that everything that's on the B3 and wasn't put on there by you, is there on purpose. and The installer doesn't go thinking spontaneously that it should go and ask elsbernd for a password, because it simply follows the programmer's rules whose mind never crossed the idea that ...

What I think is that your system is f*cked up. Freedom, please calm down :-)
The "true" story is: I changed the mysql login from none to something useful. I didn't notice that from then on the album feature didn't work any more. Well, I don't needed that feature. I only need a nas storage.
