Re: Release notes for Excito Bubba 2&3 software version 2.6.
Sorry for asking again, but is there any chance of getting a more recent Linux distribution running on the B3 (out-of-the box, without manual patching)? I have updated PHP myself by compiling it from source (Owncloud didn't particularly like the outdated B3 Debian PHP version), but I am still ...

Re: B3 final sale!
Note that the only variant still in stock is without HDD, without wifi.
There are a few "ifs" I'd like to know the answer to before buy any new B3s.
I second that. Plus, for me the more important issue is the question of software. The current Debian version is ageing dangerously (meaning that ...

Re: Release notes for Excito Bubba 2&3 software version 2.6.
That's a bit worrying - after all, Debian is expected to support Squeeze only until May - May, 2014, that is. After this date, there will be no more security updates. :-(
I hope that there will be some upgrade path (at least to a bare Debian installation), because I really don't know an alternative ...

Apparmor / Debian 7 / "bare Debian" firmware alternative
Hi,
I am not sure if this counts as a feature request, but, with all these hacks and the NSA revelations of the recent months, I really wished the B3 to support AppArmor.
The problem is, Debian 6 seems not to support AppArmor. Debian 7 does. ;-) So I would really appreciate a future Debian upgrade ...

Limiting disk space used by TimeMachine
Hi,
TimeMachine support in the B3 is great, but, on the long run, there is the problem that, over time, Apple's TimeMachine will fill up the whole volume. There is a simple, and official, way to restrict the size TimeMachine will use (there is not even the need of creating a separate LVM volume ...

Re: Something wicked happened resolving 'b3.update.excito.or
I don't know if this is connected, or if it is an altogether different problem, but for a few days, I have been getting the same error message when trying the update from the WebUI. Maybe my report can help to trace the problem.
The first remarkable thing is that, for me, there seem to be no ...

Re: umask in /etc/profile
I am heavily using (and enjoying) shell access, too - for me the B3 is a Linux server with the additional benefit of being a NAS (and not vice versa) - this is why I prefer it so much over the other NAS manufacturers' devices.
That being said, I was a bit surprised finding files being world ...

Support for SSH backup on non-standard ports
Hi,
it would be great if SSH backups would work even if the destination server uses a non-standard SSH port. I like to use non-standard SSH ports in order to slightly obscure the fact that the respective computer has a SSH running, and this bad manner of mine breaks the possibility to automatically ...
