OK, I checked... the LCC is 19, in roughly 1 month span in which I turned on turned off the B3 multiple times (due to some configuration stuf)... so all is fine.

Be careful with WD Red disks however! It seems that the latest units have the head parking re-enabled by default with an 8s timeout!

Really? How can I check this in my unit (I recently install WD RED 4TB).

Although, now I do wonder what is the point of eSATA, if you can reach the same speeds (due to CPU limitation) over USB. Even if you take 30MB/s as a limit over 1Gbps LAN (again I guess the bottleneck is CPU), this is something USB 2.0 can handle. Why not just 2 additional USB ports instead of eSATA?

OK, I tested the copy from Windows machine to eSATA connected disk, and it seems as you suggested, the transfer speed was roughly 25MB7S... so it is true that the cpu just can't handle more than that.

But still... 12MB/s over eSATA from one disk to another, compared to copy from one computer (Windows) to B3 over gigabil link of 25 - 30 MB/s. This still strikes me as too much of a difference?

Here is the situation... in my B3 I just changed my original WD Green 2TB with a WD Red 4TB (works very nicely by the way, the temperatures are rougly the same as with Green 2TB), and then I connected the Green 2TB with B3 over eSATA (with a external disk enclosure of course).

This was strange... I didn't see the connected USB Disk in the Backup menu, so I disconnected and connected it again, and now it is there. OK, this makes much more sense now. What about what to backup... the available choices are quite limited; is there a way to add more backup sources to the list ...

OK, I guess I could write localhost in the admin (backup) page, but I still can't choose any of the locations (I wish to backup to locally attached USB disk), moreover I can't choose exactly what I wish to backup (except for complete home folder or complete storage folder, and some other 3 useless ...

Is there a simple way to backup (using this new backup in version 2.6) to a locally attachaed USB disk? By simple I mean through admin interface.

Johannes, thank you for the info, I am glad to hear that... I presume the same is true for 5TB disks that are coming out at the end of the year (WD Red and Green)? Do you have any plans for testing these new 4TB disks, and later on 5TB disks?

I only mentioned if this new installation image will be available, because of the uncertain future of B3 further development and support. Johannes, I asked about this a couple of times on this forum but no official answer yet... are 4TB disks supported (WD Red 4TB, Seagate NAS 4TB, WD Green 4TB)? Will the work in B3?

Would it be possible to include this version as the reinstall image on the dowloads page? The last one published is 2.4.1.1...
