Thanks! I must have done something wrong with the first re-installation attempt, now that I re-created the USB memory stick and tried it again, it worked.

reinstalling doesn't reinitialize admin password?
I forgot my admin password and generally just wanted to "restart from scratch". So I followed the re-installation section in the manual. Boot from USB memory stick, the LED blinks for approximately 7 minutes (500GB disk) and then I am able to access http://bubba.local/ again. No manual power cycle ...
