Re: Network and disk throughput
Assuming that asparak reports his numbers in Mb and Puma in MB the difference is not all that big.
59Mb ~ 7.4MB for asparak
48Mb ~ 6MB for Puma
Still a difference but it could well be down to cables/drives/whatever.

Re: Network and disk throughput
What performace do you expect to see?
I get about 6MBytes/s when doing a file copy (1GB random content) over the Samba protocol.
[Edit]
Should be 6 not 16, sorry about that.

Have you checked that postfix is running? Any hints in the mail logs?

Re: High mysqld cpu usage after reboot
My guess is that mediatomb is refreshing its database on startup, maybe you just need to let mediatomb finish whatever it is doing.

Have you tried stopping the mediatomb process?

An update on this would be nice, perhaps you need some help with beta testing?

Re: SSH brute force attack prevention
Yes, that's a great alternative too. Only downside is that you have to have ready access to a knock client on any machine from which you intend to original an SSH connection. But honestly, I think that in my case, I would. Might have to look into this more.

Re: Recovering RAID
I would seriously consider ditching a raid setup unless you really really need it. Raid has a tendency to give you more problems than it solves (for home use that is). If you want your files to be secure, take backup copies of them.

Re: SSH brute force attack prevention
Another way is to implement port knocking as described here:

Re: Minne
Har nu öppnat min Bubba i ren nyfikenhet och kan konstatera att det inte går att uppgradera minnet på den på nåt smidigt sätt. Platsen på moderkortet är inte till för att montera minne i.
