nfs is a protocol to unix/linux, and I guess Apple Mac now as well. Windows does not support nfs. For windows you need to use the smb (samba) protocol - now called cifs - which the bubbas supported since the beginning.

I experienced problems after the squeezecenter update. I solved them by doing a complete de-install of squeezecenter (including removing the database) and re-installing from scratch.

Now it works great!

I just needed to do the following to get it working:

1) apt-get install nfs-common nfs-kernel-server

2) edit/create the file /etc/exports, /etc/hosts.allow and /etc/hosts.deny as appropriate.

3) exportfs -a

And then I could mount the bubba's FS on my Linux PC.

This is bizarre - mine is also adrift by exactly 23 seconds. Given that CET is defined as UTC + 1 hour there should be no difference in the seconds or minutes values.

I don't know if your problem is related, but I found that the config file that saves the settings of the firefly config page had the wrong ownership settings

my settings are now:

# ls -l /etc/mt-daapd.conf

Could the disabling of the hardware checksum be a reason? The CPU has to work harder if the checksum has to be calculated with software.

I get about 6Mbyes per second using ftp transferring large files with a wired 100Mbps connection. ssh does take about 5 seconds logging in before I get a prompt.

Please note that chmod 755 changes all bits.
A better option to use is , e.g.

chmod g+w

which only adds the write permission for the group.

the 3 'domains' are u == user g == group and o == others, a == all
the permissions are r == read, w == write, x == execute, s == sticky.

nfs is not a protocol that you can "mount" afaik. You can transfer files between bubba and netgear using the 'nfs' command or probably tools like midnight commander (mc).

You need smbclient to use cifs (cifs is the new name for smb).
