Is it known which processes/programs are writing to the disk so frequently and does anybody know if there is a way to find out which are the writing processes ?

Because when it is just system logging, I could live with switching it off or creating a tmpfs where the files lie in RAM, causing no hdd ...

Have tested whilbone's testscript ( see below ) tonight, and as hoped it stopped the disk from going to idle 3 and in this way avoided the load cycles and the tempature was also stable, so the workaround works for the time beeing . . .

I am not sure if this will work, because I am not sure if the messages file actually just lies on the disk or it is (partly) cached in RAM, in which case no disk access is needed and the disk could go to idle anyway.

The model numbers are not the only affected models, it are just the few models for which WD has provided a firmware update.

My WD10EACS ( 1 TB WD Green ) is definitely affected, but the just don't have released a new firmware which changes the idle-3 timer :( and therefore not in the list.

I solved the problem by adding the tun0 interface to my "interfaces" line in the smb.conf and as I remember ( have no access to my bubba at the moment ) the line below this "interfaces" had to be commented out to allow samba to broadcast on the tun0 interface, because it is a temporary ...

This is how it has to be, good product with good support !

The passwort realy went in the passwort file you mentioned. After removing the passwort i could run dpkg --configure bubba-horde and dpkg --configure bubba-backend without problems.

Got an interesting output, where the script or something remembered the requested password of the first install run where the password was asked. ( dbc_dbadmpass=ABCDEFG )

Do you know where this is stored, because a grep did not realy find a config file ...

Could work, if you e.g setup the freepops to fetch your emal from hotmail, and then let bubba ( or you direct from your PC ) pop the email from your Freepops.

I experience problems accessing my bubba with ssh from the internet trough my fritzbox.

My setup is following :

ADSL <-> Fritzbox <-> Bubba <-> internal nw

Port 22 forwarding to the Bubba is switched on in the fritzbox, and in the bubba2 config page I switched on the external wan ssh ...

Thanks for working on Bubba2 support, a working bubbamon would even improve the bubba experience
