have also just found out qnap 109/209 has a propitiatory EXT3 file system
meaning it cannot be read in another pc a very annoying problem in an other wise nice system

yes I am currently looking to purchase one of these , I like the bubba because of the open source software but am unsure of the platform/hardware and low specs, I like the Qnap TS-109 because of its greater specs but dislike what looks like a lack of openness in its software

Yep. you can add almost anything you like. It also has a package management system, a bit more basic but it works.

Twonky have just recently discontinued seperate binaries for NAS devices, citing the support cost.

They are focusing on Pc's and OEM fitted options to NAS's so unless Excito go with Twonky, it's about the end of the line for that option.

Actually thats basically a Qnap 109 which is probably what I'll get. And a lot cheaper.
You can put progs on it too and get ssh access etc.

Regarding playlists,

Eek is right it should work. We have tested it with m3u lists, pls lists should work as well, and they will be expanded in the "Upnp-filesystem" in the folder Playlists in the root. (Ie Audio,PC Directory, Photos, Playlists , Video)

I have several e-mailadresses. It works ok when receiving mail. But when I send mail using one of the other adresses, it is either not sent, or there is no copy in the 'Sent' folder.
