I just managed to cross-compile the partimage-partimaged applications for bubba (they are not available as a debian sarge package)
Partimage allows you to backup your partition as images, and with partimaged you can do it directly on a server on your LAN (the bubba...)

raid using laptop disks
I just set up a RAID-1 array on the bubba, it seem to work, just a bit slow...
I gave up on trying to install a "full" raid system, including the root partition, and instead only added a third mirrored partition mounted as /home. Full instructions can be found here .
