but as I found a solution to a similar problem I thought I'd post it.
For me it turned out that it was the USB cable that was causing the problem.
I had an extra long cable (ca 3 meters), either it is broken somehow, or too long (signal integrity ...

Re: installing Telldus core from repo on b2?
Edit:
Installed from source and it was a smooth ride - no problems except that telldusd is not configured to auto-start on boot. An init.d script and rcconf solved that.

Re: Building Zabbix for b2
Just got my B3 yesterday, and it looks like the repos only contain Zabbix 1.8 for the B3 platform.
Thus, for now you'll need to build from source if you want to use the latest and greatest Zabbix (2.0.2) on your B3.

Re: Building Zabbix for b2
I gather it is very capable, but it is a nightmare trying to understand how to configure.
Agreed, in particular the terminology used in Zabbix is a bit unusual at times, but I was pretty much up to speed after a few hours of google-supported configuration. Not too bad for such a powerful ...

Edit 1:
Added info on automatic startup of zabbix on boot.
Edit 2:
Looks like the scripts copied to /etc/init.d messed up things when running apt-get install... and similar commands. Adding INIT blocks fix this. Instructions below updated accordingly.

What is correct way of adding repos to b2/b3?
I've got a b2 running latest software (i.e. debian 6.0.3 squeeze). With a bunch of Excito specific files in /etc/apt, I am slightly hesitant to start messing around with those files.
Is it for example safe to add repos to /etc/apt/sources.list, such as

Re: Release notes for Excito Bubba 2 software version 2.4-RC
Does anyone have Java successfully installed after this latest update? Just wondering as I'm about to upgrade my own Bubba 2. Would like to try and install linux version of CrashPlan which depends on Java version 1.6+ - it's probably impossible based on their machine requirements, but I'm going to ...

Unusual bubba ad?
I do not condone or in any way support illegal graffiti, but I can't help smiling whenever I go jogging past this particular place...
So - is there a bounty (discounted b3 maybe??) for pictures that go into Excito's media library?

Using oldish USB wifi dongle with B2
After upgrading my B2 (no wifi module installed) with a new SSD and reinstalling the latest version of the software, I thought I'd use an old D-Link DWL-122 USB wifi adapter that I had lying around, for some wifi experimenting with reaver and similar security related stuff.
But I just cannot get it ...

Also, I needed to run the tcpdump ./configure first, in order to get a Makefile that could then be edited according to the above.

installing Telldus core from repo on b2?
Thought I'd be lazy and install from repo rather than source (nice to automatically get updates too), but it's a fail:

I recall seeing a schematic and board layout of the B2 somehwere, sometime in the distant past... Or do I remember incorrectly?

tmux for bubba2
Been trying to find an already compiled package of the great screen/ssh session multiplexer tmux ( http://tmux.sourceforge.net ) for bubba2, but no luck.
As a last resort, I ended up compiling it from source. As the process wasn't entirely without trouble, I did a brief writeup that might help ...
